Ziplines.com Inc. proudly presents Eye of the Jaguar zipline ride in Cusco, Peru (Press Release)
January 22, 2012 [ Cusco, Peru ]
Ziplines.com Inc., a Peruvian adventure tourism company founded in 2008, officially announces the opening date of its world-class zipline named "Eye of the Jaguar." Ziplines are an environmentally-friendly adventure activity available in many locations around the world. They are composed of a long steel cable that connects two towers, and allows users to quickly descend from the first tower to the second tower, via a pulley that runs along the length the cable. Users are connected to the cable with a safety harness, and have further safety equipment such as helmets. The high speed descent - powered only by the weight of the rider - results in a pleasurable adrenaline rush.
Construction of the zipline has been completed successfully. Extensive safety testing is underway to assure the safe operation when the zipline opens to the public on February 23rd, 2012.
Eye of the Jaguar is not just any zipline - it is the second longest zipline in the world. At 2,150 meters in length, for its single cable, it is only 150 meters shorter than the world recorder holder. Furthermore, the world record holder, located in Switzerland, is only open for 4 months per year. That means for 8 months per year, Eye of the Jaguar is the longest zipline in the world that is open to the public.
Eye of the Tiger - An Inside Look:
Location & Length: Briefly, the zipline is located at the town of Pieray-Santana, located about one hour to the north of Cusco, Peru. The zipline is 2150 meters long (= 7,053 feet long = 2.150 kilometers long = 1.336 miles long), making it the longest zipline in South America, and the second longest on the planet.
Speed: Speed tests indicate that riders on Eye of the Tiger will reach a maximum speed of between 100 and 130 kilometers per hour, depending on their weight. Eye of the Tiger is a high speed zipline.
Qualified Customers: the zipline is open to anyone regardless of age, if they weigh between thirty kilograms ( 66 pounds ) and 110 kilograms ( 240 pounds ), do not suffer from asthma or any type of heart condition, and on the day of their tour are not under the influence of alcohol or any mid-altering substances.
Safety:
Eye of the Jaguar is one of the most technically sound ziplines in the world. Every aspect of this zipline has been created with a high safety factor in mind. The entire project conforms to United States ropes-course engineering standards that have been formalized by the ACCT industry norms. The zipline cables for this zipline are specially manufactured galvanized steel cables, imported from North America, and are similar to what are used to tether jet fighters. These cables can hold thousands of pounds without rupturing; weights that are many times higher than the maximum weight of our riders. Guides will be trained in rescue techniques by the zipline builder, and will have further training in the areas of CPR.
Environmental and Sociological Impact: Ecological studies have been performed by impartial third party organizations to assure that the environmental impact of the zipline will be nearly nil. The zipline is not located in an area of high environmental sensitivity, and the zipline produces no pollution or fumes. The local community has granted their informed consent for the project, and will benefit from a monthly rental fee paid by the company to the community.
Cost: Promotional rates will be offered during the first three months. During this period, $25 USD per person will be the cost of a "flight" on Eye of the Jaguar, and $5 USD for each additional flight. This price point makes it acessible for a wide range of Peruvian and international tourists.
